The second-generation Mahindra Scorpio will be the next big launch from the home-grown automaker in the country. The model is likely to debut in June 2022, followed by its launch. Its official launch date, however, is yet to be announced. The automaker, which has been testing the new 2022 Mahindra Scropio from the past one year, will make comprehensive changes to its exterior and interior. Though, the major update will come in the form of more powerful and refined engines.
For power, the new Scorpio will use the 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engines. The gasoline unit will deliver two different power outputs – 130bhp for the lower variants and 160bhp for the higher variants. The oil burner, on the other hand, will produce power worth 155bhp. Both motors can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The 4X4 drivetrain system, terrain modes and drive modes will be exclusively offered on the higher trims.

In terms of proportions, the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will be bigger, lighter and safer. This time around, the SUV will be made available with 6 and 7-seats configurations. Interestingly, the third row seats will be forward facing instead of the side facing jump units. The biggest update inside the cabin will be the larger touchscreen infotainment system with the latest smartphone connectivity. The new Scorpio might also be packed with a Head-Up Display (HUD), a 360 degree camera and a digital analogue instrument cluster.
For the first time, the Mahindra Scorpio will be offered with a factory-fitted sunroof. Similar to the XUV700, the second-generation Scorpio will get a flat-bottom steering along with the vehicle telematics, electrically adjustable front seats, roof-mounted speakers, a reverse camera, rear disc brakes and multiple airbags. Sitting on a new platform, the new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio will feature a newly-designed grille, twin-pod headlamps with LED DRLs, updated bumpers and new LED taillamps.
