MG Hector

MG Motors is all set to make an official entry in the Indian market this year. The company will launch an all-new SUV, called MG Hector, in June 2019. This SUV is based on the Baojun 530 SUV, which is currently on sale in the Chinese market. The SUV will have over 75% of localisation and will be produced at the company’s Halol based plant in Gujarat. The Hector SUV will be powered by a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre diesel engine that produces 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. Kia SP

Similar to the MG Motors, Korean automaker Kia will also launch its first model in India in the form of an all-new SUV. This SUV was first previewed as Kia SP concept at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Likely to be called Trazor, the SUV will be positioned against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and Nissan Kicks. Honda HR-V

Japanese automaker, Honda will also mark its entry into the 5-seater premium SUV category with the global HR-V SUV. This SUV is expected to arrive in late 2019 or early 2020 and will be positioned against the likes of Jeep Compass, Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks. It is based on the Jazz’s platform, which also underpins the City sedan. The SUV will be available with two engine options – a 118bhp, 1.6-litre diesel and 118bhp, 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol. Read More

Hyundai Venue

Korean automaker, Hyundai will officially enter into the sub-4 meter SUV category in the second quarter of 2019. The company will launch a compact SUV Hyundai Venue, which will make its global debut at the 2019 New York Auto Show on April 17. The SUV will be based on the new-gen Santro’s platform, which will also underpin the next-gen Grand i10 hatchback. The sub-4 meter SUV will directly rival the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport. Datsun Compact SUV

Nissan’s low-cost brand, Datsun is preparing a small SUV for the Indian market. Not much is revealed on the Datsun compact SUV, but it almost certain that the SUV will be launched in 2019. It will be based on the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF-A platform. This sub-4 meter SUV will have crossover styling and will come as an affordable rival to the likes of Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford EcoSport.
