The 2019 Toyota Innova Crysta will come with updated cabin and new features

We informed you earlier that Toyota will give a minor makeover to the popular Innova Crysta in India this year. Toyota is yet to reveal the exact launch date, though a new media report claims that the 2019 Innova Crysta will go on sale in India on April 8. The current version of the 7-seater premium MPV was launched in May 2016.

Despite being 3 years old, the Innova Crysta has been doing tremendous business for the automaker. However, the MPV has started feeling the heat of the rising competition from the likes of Mahindra Marazzo and the new Maruti Ertiga. Moreover, the MPV segment will also witness the entry of Kia’s premium MPV Carnival in the early 2020. With subtle upgrades, Toyota will aim to keep the sales momentum for the Innova Crysta.

Leather perforation will be offered in the upholstery of the diesel variants. The 2019 Innova Crysta will also receive fast USB charging port, seat perforation and heat rejection glass.

Mechanically, the 2019 Toyota Innova Crysta will remain the same. It will continue to be offered with the existing 2.4-litre diesel, 2.8-litre diesel and 2.7-litre petrol engines. The former is paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox, and churns out 150PS of power at 3,400rpm and 343Nm of torque between 1,400 and 2,800rpm. The 2.8L diesel unit offers 174bhp and 360Nm, while the petrol engine offers 166PS and 245Nm. In terms of product planning, Toyota has joined hands with Suzuki to develop India-specific 7-seater MPV to challenge Mahindra Marazzo. Adding to it, Toyota will also launch the re-badged versions of Baleno, Ertiga, Ciaz and Vitara Brezza.
