New Volkswagen Polo facelift

German car manufacturer Volkswagen had unveiled the face-lifted Polo hatchback at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. According to the Overdrive India, the VW India will launch the updated Polo in the country in July. The new model looks identical to the outgoing model; however, it gets some exterior tweaks to keep fresh in the market.

The Volkswagen Polo facelift has already been spotted several times during its test rounds near its manufacturing unit in Pune, Maharashtra. The front fascia of the hatchback gets redesigned bonnet and chrome embellishments that flow across the grille and bottom of the fog lamps. It sports a reworked bumper, while the tail lights and alloy wheels are new. The headlamps of the revised Polo features LED treatment, which is the most visible update given to the car. Inside the cabin, the vehicle gets restyled dashboard. The updated Polo comes equipped with a new redone instrument panel with a colour display and a new infotainment system.

Under the hood, the facelifted Polo will get a new 1.5-litre 4-cylinder diesel engine that is expected to developed 105PS of top power and 250Nm of peak torque. This engine will be coupled to a DSG automatic gearbox. The new 1.5L engine will help the company to enjoy the excise benefits applicable on sub-4 metre cars with 1.5L diesel engines. If media reports to believe, the company might ditch the 1.2L diesel motor; however, we expect that the company will replace the 1.6L diesel engine.

The new 1.5-litre engine will also power the Volkswagen Vento, which is expected to hit the Indian market by the festive season.
