Nissan revived its low cost brand Datsun to improve its market share in the growing nations including India, Russia, Indonesia and South Africa. The company recently launched the Go hatchback in the country and is now planning to launch the Go+ MPV in the country. The vehicle was unveiled at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo and is expected to hit the market by the festive season. It is a sub-4 metre MPV which is developed on the Go hatchback platform. The Go Plus MPV will directly compete against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Chevrolet Enjoy and upcoming Honda Mobilio in the country. In this article we try to find out how the new Datsun Go+ MPV will justify itself against the upcoming Mobilio MPV in the Indian car market.

The Datsun Go+ MPV shares exactly the same interior features that are accessible in the Go hatchback. However, we expect that the company will add some more safety and comfort features to justify the price tag and the segment in which it will be introduced. The top spec and mid-level variants are likely to feature airbags and ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) as standard. Moreover, the top-of-the line GO Plus MPV is expected to get air conditioning for the second row. The third row seats can be fully foldable to increase boot space. Its second row seats continue to have split bench design.
Like Datsun Go+, the Honda Mobilio also shares its interior components with its sibling hatchback and compact sedan. The vehicle gets dual tone interiors, while the material quality is top notch. When it comes to spaciousness and quality, the Mobilio easily outsmarts the Go+. The first two rows are spacious enough to seat five adults comfortably, while the third row seats can be fully foldable that can easily accommodate 2-3 suitcases. The Honda Mobilio MPV will be equipped with several advanced safety features including ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution) and driver side airbag as standard.
The Honda Mobilio MPV is expected to be tagged around Rs. 6 lakh for base model and Rs. 9 lakh for top-of-the line variant. The Datsun Go+ MPV is a sub-4 metre MPV which makes it eligible to enjoy excise duty benefits. It is expected to be priced around Rs. 5-7 lakh.
