2 New Big SUVs To Debut On 4th June, 2020

Toyota Fortuner Facelift Rendering

On coming 4th June, the updated model of the two SUVs will make their online debut. It includes 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift and 2021 Jeep Compass facelift. While the former is likely to hit roads by the end of this year, the latter is expected to arrive in early 2021. We have seen testing prototypes of both models revealing their minor design details.

Based on the ladder-on-frame chassis, the 2021 Toyota Fortuner will witness significant changes inspired by the brand’s global SUV design language. Upfront, the vehicle will carry a narrower grille, new wraparound LED headlamps and revised. The bonnet will also look slight different from current unit.

Similar to the test mule, the final model is likely to feature newly-designed 17-inch alloy wheels, contrast black roof and pillars, new rear bumper and new detailing for taillamp. On the engine front, the 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift might continue to come with the existing BS6-compliant 2.8L diesel and 2.7L petrol engine options.  The oil burner has been tuned for generating two different power outputs – 174bhp with 420Nm with a 6-speed manual gearbox and 174bhp with 450Nm with a 6-speed automatic. Globally, the SUV will get a more powerful version of the 2.8L diesel engine that’s reported to deliver power worth 200bhp.

2020 Jeep Compass Launch

The 2021 Jeep Compass facelift will receive noticeable changes inside and out. On the exterior, the SUV will get newly-designed front and rear bumpers, front grille with the signature seven-slat design and honeycomb-link inserts and a hidden exhaust design. Interior will be more upmarkert than before. The biggest change will come in the form the new, upgraded infotainment system called UConnect 5.

FCA’s UConnect info unit, which was previewed at the 2019 Consumer Electronics Show, will come with a large 12.3-inch portrait-style display. It will support Amazon Alexa along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and receive over-the-air updates. In order to accommodate the massive display, the carmaker will redesign its dashboard.  

2020 Jeep Compass Features

No changes are likely to be made to its engines. The 2021 Jeep Compass facelift will come with the 1.4L turbo petrol and 2.0L diesel engines making 163bhp and 173bhp respectively. A 6-speed manual gearbox will be standard, while a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and a 9-speed torque convertor automatic unit will be reserved for the turbo-petrol and diesel variants respectively.
