10 New Toyota SUVs/Cars To Launch In India – Details

Toyota Kirloskar Motor, the Indian subsidiary of the Japanese carmaker, will soon expand its product portfolio with a range of new vehicles. The plan outlines 10 new models including 4 global and 3 shared products along with the 2 SUVs developed with Maruti Suzuki and the new-generation Fortuner.

If reports are to be believed, the Toyota Belta mid-size sedan will hit roads by mid August 2021. It will be based on the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz featuring minor cosmetic tweaks including a new grille, signature badge and newly-designed alloy wheels. The Belta sedan will use the same 104bhp, 1.5L NA petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox.

Toyota’s Maruti Ertiga-based version will also arrive in the second half of 2021. Similar to the Glanza and Urban Cruiser, the compact MPV will receive a few design updates. It’s interior and powertrain will remain unchanged.

The Japanese carmaker will soon introduce the Toyota Hyryder electric hatchback that will be based on the Maruti WagonR EV. A few design changes have been made to the model such as LED headlamps with split setup, revised lower bumper with newly-designed LED fog lamps, closed air-intake with black finish and shut-off front grille. It will come with a 72V electric drive paired to a 10-25kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The new Toyota EV will offer a range of around 180km on a full charge.

2021 Toyota Hilux Specs

Toyota Hilux lifestyle pickup truck has also been planned for India. Based on the IMV platform, the Hilux will be offered with a 2.8L, 4-cylinder turbo diesel engine making 201bhp and 500Nm. Compared to the old motor, the new offers 15.3% extra power and 11.1% more torque and fuel efficiency. The pickup truck will come with 4WD system.

Toyota has been testing the RAV4 mid-size SUV and C-HR crossover in India. Both models will be brought under the government’s new import rules that allow a carmaker to import 2500 vehicles annually without any homologation process. The Toyota RAV4 and C-HR are likely to come with the hybrid powertrain.

Toyota C-HR India Launch

The new-generation Toyota Fortuner will arrive in India sometime next year. The SUV will witness significant updates inside and out along with a diesel hybrid powertrain. The new model is reported to be packed with electric power steering, vehicle stability control and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).

The 2022 Toyota Land Cruiser will have its world premiere on 9th June, followed by its global launch. In India, it’s likely to see a release by the end of 2021 or early 2022. Globally, the SUV will be made available with 3.3L V6 turbo diesel and 3.5L twin turbo petrol engines. Comprehensive changes will be made to its exterior and interior.

2022 Toyota Fortuner Launch

Toyota and Maruti are jointly working on two new SUVs, which are expected to debut in 2022 or 2023. There will be a mid-size SUV to challenge the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta. It will be based on Toyota’s DNGA platform and is likely to come with the 1.2L NA petrol and 1.5L K15B petrol engine with a mild hybrid system engine options. Both carmakers are reportedly working on a C-segment SUV that will take on the cars like MG Hector and Tata Harrier. The model is likely to be designed on Toyota’s Raize platform.
