This time around, the compact SUV might receive Nissan’s e-Power technology as we have seen in the global-spec Nissan Note hatchback. Globally, the 2020 Nissan Kicks will be offered with a 1.2L, 3-cylinder HR12DE petrol engine coupled to a 1.5kWh battery pack. Its combined power output will stand at 129bhp.

Unlike the conventional hybrid system where petrol engine drives the wheels, the e-Power system has electric motor for delivering power to the wheels. This system is claimed to optimize energy management, improve fuel efficiency and reduce carbon emission. The global-spec 2020 Nissan Kicks facelift will continue to be based on the V-platform. Minor cosmetic changes are likely to be made on the facelifted model. Compared to the outgoing model, the new one carries slightly angular design. While the V-Motion grille looks slightly larger merging with the front bumper, the headlamps appears shaper than before.

As of now, there is no clarity whether the Kicks facelift will come to India or not. The India-spec version will receive the BS6-compliant 1.3L turbocharged petrol engine before the deadline.

The carmaker has confirmed an all-new subcompact SUV for the Indian market. Slated to hit showrooms early this year, the new Nissan sub-4 meter SUV will take on Hyundai Venue, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon and the upcoming Kia Sonet.
