Tata Altroz EV India Launch Early Next Year
Tata Motors is ready to launch a range of new models in a couple of months. The carmaker will begin with the all-new Altroz premium hatchback, Nexon, Tiago and Tigor facelifts, which are slated to launch on 22nd January. The company will also expand its electric vehicle lineup with the Tata Nexon EV and Tata Altroz EV.
While Nexon’s electric iteration will see a release on 28th January, the Altroz EV is reported to go on sale in the first half of 2021. Both models will be put up on display at the Auto Expo. Talking to a media publication, Shailesh Chandra, President, Electric Vehicle Business, Tata Motors, has confirmed that the Tata Altroz EV will hit roads in the next 12-18 months.
The electric version of the Altroz hatchback will share its powertrain with the Tata Nexon EV. Though, it will have a different capacity battery pack and power figures. Just so you know, the Nexon electric SUV comes with Tata’s Ziptron EV powertrain that consists of a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack and an electric motor (129PS/245Nm). Similar to the Nexon EV, the Tata Altroz electric hatchback is likely to offer two driving modes – Drive and Sport. It will support both the wall-mounted chargers and 25kW DC fast charger. Design and features of the EV will be similar to the regular ICE (internal combustion engine) model.
