Kia Seltos Electric SUV To Enter Production In August 2020
We have reported earlier that Kia Motos is working on an electric iteration of the Seltos compact SUV. Production of the Kia Seltos Electric SUV will begin in August 2020 in South Korea. The carmaker will manufacture less than 10,000 units in the first year its production. The Seltos electric will be exclusively sold in the Asian market.
Engine details of the Kia Seltos electric SUV are yet to be revealed. It’s likely to share its powertrain with the Kia Soul EV. That means it might get a 64kWh battery pack coupled to an electric motor that’s good for 204bhp. The electric SUV is likely to deliver a range of around 400km on a single charge. Talking about Kia’s future plan, the Korean carmaker has confirmed that it will launch 11 new electric cars under its “Plan S” by 2025. The first electric vehicle will hit roads sometime in 2021. The company aims to sell 500,000 EVs by 2026 globally.
In India, the carmaker is gearing to launch the Kia Carnival luxury MPV at the Auto Expo 2020. The vehicle will come in three variants (Premium, Prestige and Limousine), three seating layouts (7, 8 and 9) and a BS6-compliant 200bhp, 2.2L diesel engine.
