Kia Carnival Variants and Features Revealed; Launch Next Month

Kia Motors has revealed the Carnival luxury MPV for the Indian market. Slated to launch at the 2020 Auto Expo next month, the Kia Carnival will come in three trims – Premium, Prestige and Limousie – and three seating configurations – 7, 8 and 9-seats. While the 7-seater version will get captain seats for the middle row of ‘Luxury VIP’ seats with individual leg rests as standard, the 8-seater model will have four captain seats.

The 9-seater Kia Carnival will come with four-row layout and six captain seats. The entry-level Premium variant, which will be offered with 7 and 8-seats options, will get a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play.

Features such as electrically adjustable wing mirrors, 18-inch crystal-cut alloy wheels, tilt and telescopic adjust for the steering wheel with mounted audio controls, an audio system with four speakers and two tweeters, a smart key with push-button start, cruise control, reverse camera, dual airbags, all four disc brakes and ABS with EBD will come as standard fitments. The Kia Carnival Prestige trim will feature LED projector headlights, the signature ‘Ice Cube’ LED fog lights, powered tailgate, electric-folding wing mirrors, LED tail-lights, dual-panel electric sunroof and chrome accents on the exterior. It will be made available with 7 and 9-seats configurations and ‘pop-up sinking seats’.

At the safety front, the mid-level Prestige variant will offer side and curtain airbags, rollover mitigation front parking sensors, Cornering Brake Control and Electronic Stability Control. The range-topping variant will be loaded with lots of comfort goodies such as a Harman Kardon 8-speaker sound system, 10-way adjustable powered driver’s seat with ventilation, three-zone auto climate control, , air purifier, powered sliding rear doors electronic parking brake, two 10.1-inch touchscreens for the rear-seat passengers, , smart watch connectivity, wireless smartphone charging and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Features such as 18-inch ‘Sputtering’ design alloy wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, Nappa leather upholstery wood garnish will further enhance its comfort quotient. Similar to the Kia Seltos, the Kia Carnival Limousine variant will get in-built navigation and the UVO connected car technology. Interestingly, it will be free for the first three years.  Powering the Kia Carnival will be a BS6-compliant 2.2L, diesel engine delivering a maximum power of 200bhp at 3,800rpm and 440Nm of torque between 1,500rpm -2,750rpm. For performing transmission duties, the MPV will have an 8-speed ‘Sportsmatic’ automatic gearbox.
