Hyundai Venue – The 2nd Best-Selling Compact SUV In May, 2019
In May 2019, Hyundai sold over 7,000 units of the Venue SUV.
Hyundai Venue subcompact SUV, India’s first connected car, made its entry on 21st May, 2019. Within first week of arrival, the vehicle registered total sales of 7,049 units with bookings close to 25,000. The South Korean carmaker aims to double its sales figure by 2019 festive season and achieve the top spot in the subcompact SUV space that’s currently dominated by Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.
In May 2019, the subcompact SUV segment witnessed a double digit growth thanks to two new launches – Hyundai Venue and Mahindra XUV300. The Venue becomes India’s second best-selling sub-4 meter SUV, followed by XUV300 with total sales of 5,113 units. The top position is still under the hold of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. However, it’s the lowest sales figure for the Brezza in the past 23 months. The fourth and fifth spots are grabbed by Tata Nexon and Ford EcoSport respectively. While the former registered sales of 4,506 units, the latter one recorded sales of 3,604 units.
Aiming to boost sales of the EcoSport, the American carmaker has dropped the SUV prices up to Rs 57,000. Now, the Ford EcoSport is available in the price range of Rs 7.69 lakh – Rs 11.33 lakh (ex-showroom). Honda’s WRV stood at number six with total sales of 1,520 units, followed by the Mahindra TUV300. The home-grown carmaker managed to sell 1,393 units of the TUV300.
