Toyota Glanza Hatchback Launching Tomorrow; Price Expectation
The Toyota Glanza hatchback will come with a standard 3-year/1 lakh kilometer warranty.
The first production from Suzuki and Toyota partnership, the Toyota Glanza premium hatchback will finally go on sale in India tomorrow. The car is basically the re-badged version of thee Maruti Suzuki Baleno. In fact, the hatchback will be produced at the Maruti’s Gujarat based platform that also produces the Baleno hatchback.
The Glanza will be developed in Maruti’s factory, though the service and warranty for the car will be taken care by Toyota. The hatchback will come with a standard 3-year/1 lakh kilometer warranty. On the other hand, the Baleno comes with a standard 2-year/40,000km warranty. Going by the warranty on offer, the Glanza seems a better deal than the Maruti Baleno. While the Baleno offers a wide range of variants to choose from, the Glanza will come in the top-spec avatar only. It is expected that the Toyota Glanza will be priced somewhere around 8 lakh for the base variant and Rs 9 lakh for the top-spec model.
The Toyota Glanza will come in petrol version only. It will be powered by the same 1.2-litre BSVI compliant petrol engine that powers the Baleno. This engine is capable of producing 83bhp of power and 113Nm of torque. The company will also offer the new mild-hybrid 1.2-litre DualJet engine in the base model. This powertrain produces 89bhp and 113Nm of torque. While the hybrid model will be offered in manual avatar, the regular Baleno petrol will be offered with 2 transmission options – 5-speed manual and CVT automatic. The fuel efficiency of the Toyota Glanza is quite similar to that of the Baleno hatchback. The Glanza’s regular model offers a fuel efficiency of 21.01kmpl, while the smart hybrid model will offer an ARAI certified fuel economy of 23.87kmpl. The petrol CVT model delivers 19.56kmpl.
The Toyota Glanza will be equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Branded as ‘Smart Playcast’, the infotainment is the same unit that is available in the Baleno as the SmartPlay Studio unit. This infotainment unit is compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and voice command function. The Glanza will take on the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
