The long-awaited Toyota Glanza premium hatchback has finally gone on sale in India. The premium hatchback comes in two trims (G and V) and four variants – G MT, V MT, G CVT and V CVT – priced at Rs 7.21 lakh, Rs 7.58 lakh, Rs 8.29 lakh and Rs 8.90 lakh respectively (all, ex-showroom Delhi). In this price range, the Glanza takes on the Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Baleno and the Honda Jazz. Here we bring you a list of key facts you should know about the upcoming Toyota Glanza hatchback –
1. First Car From Toyota-Suzuki Partnership
The Glanza is the first product under Suzuki and Toyota partnership in India. It’s basically the re-badged Maruti Baleno hatchback with subtle design updates. Save for the new grille and Toyota badge, the Glanza looks identical to the Maruti Baleno hatchback. The G and V trims of the hatch are based on the Baleno’s Zeta and Alpha trims respectively and offer the same set of features.
2. Only Top-end Variants
Toyota has positioned the Glanza as a premium hatchback. The model lineup is available in 2 trim levels – G and V – spread across four variants – G, G CVT, V and V CVT. 3. Only Petrol
Toyota’s new hatchback has been made available with 2 BSVI compliant petrol powertrains. The 1.2-litre K12B petrol engine makes a peak power of 83bhp and 113Nm of torque. The other engine option includes a 1.2-litre, K12C engine with a mild-hybrid engine. This DualJet motor produces a peak power of 90bhp against 113Nm. The mild hybrid technology is offered only with the G variant. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
4. Mileage
The fuel efficiency figures for the Glanza are identical to the Baleno hatchback. The regular 1.2L K12B engine returns a claimed fuel economy of 21.01kmpl with manual gearbox and 19.56kmpl with CVT unit. The Dualjet gasoline unit with mild-hybrid system promises 23.87kmpl.
5. Longer Warranty
The Toyota Glanza comes with a 3 year and 1 lakh kilometer warranty as standard. Its in-line with warranty offered with other Toyota cars in India. On the other side, the Maruti Baleno is available with a standard 2 year/40,000km warranty.
