The Skoda Superb facelift is likely to be launched in India in the second half of 2019

Czech automaker, Skoda has released the images and details of the 2020 Superb sedan. The facelifted model will be launched in our market by the end of this year. THe new model has received cosmetic design changes, new exterior and interior features along with upgraded engine specs.

First Skoda to get full-LED Matrix Headlights

The Skoda Superb facelift also marks the debut of full-LED Matrix headlights and new driver assistance features including predective cruise control. The predective cruise control uses images from the camera on the windscreen and data from the navigation system to detect speed restrictions as well as bends, and automatically adjusts the speed in anticipation. Other driver assistance features include lane assist, park assist, side assist, blind spot detection, front assist with predictive pedestrian protection, etc.

Design Changes

The 2020 Skoda Superb comes equipped with a new-look grille, chrome treatment between the full rear LED lights, new front bumper and the new ‘SKODA’ block lettering. The model gets newly developed 18- and 19-inch alloy wheels and 2 new colours – Crystal Black and Race Blue.

Interior Changes

Inside the cabin, the sedan gets new chrome highlights on the instrument panel and door trims as well as new seat covers. It comes with new decorative trims for the centre console and dashboard. It gets new coloured contrasting stitching on the leather and Alcantara seats. The sedan features keyless vehicle entry system as standard. It gets an optional virtual cockpit and a choice of 3 different infotainment systems, two of which also offers a navigation function. It features 9.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with gesture and voice control.

Dimensions

The redesigned front bumper has increased the length of the car by 8mm to 4,869mm. The sedan has a wheelbase of 2,841mm, while the car’s width and height stands at 1,864mm and 1,469mm respectively. The sedan offers a luggage carrying capacity of 625-litres, which can be further extended to 1,760-litres by folding the rear seats.

Plug-in hybrid variant for the first time

The 2020 Skoda Superb for the first time gets a plug-in hybrid variant. It features a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine mated to a 112bhp electric motor, which sends the power to the front wheels via a 6-speed DSG transmission. The combined power output is 217bhp with 400Nm of torque. It can run up to 55km on pure-electric mode. The battery pack is located under the floor and near the rear axle, which in return reduces the boot capacity to 485-litres.
