Maruti Ertiga Sport 6-seater Model Spied in India
The new Maruti Ertiga Sport model will go on sale in the country in the second half of 2019.
It is no secret that Maruti Suzuki is working on an all-new sportier version of the Ertiga MPV for the Indian market. In fact, new Maruti Ertiga Sport model has been spotted testing in India. The sportier model is already on sale in the Indonesian market. It is expected that the new Sport model will go on sale in the country in the second half of 2019.
In India, the new Maruti Ertiga Sport model will be launched as a premium variant. Likely to be sold exclusively through NEXA outlets, the upcoming model will come as a 6-seater, in a 2+2+2 seating layout. In terms of styling upgrades, the Ertiga Sport gets prominent front and rear bumpers, LED DRLs, chromed grille and newly designed 15-inch alloys.
The Maruti Ertiga Sport model comes with all-black interior with wood trim on the dashboard. It features a new floating touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, and a new flat-bottomed steering wheel.
There will be no changes under the bonnet. It will be powered by the same 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that powers the regular model. Coupled with Suzuki’s mild-hybrid system, this engine is capable of producing 104bhp of power and 138Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor. Instead of the existing 1.3L MJD diesel engine, the Ertiga Sport will receive the in-house developed 1.5-litre diesel engine that recently debuted in the Ciaz sedan. Paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox, this engine produces 94bhp of power and 225Nm of torque.
The new diesel engine will soon be offered in the regular Ertiga models. Dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, speed sensitive door locks, central locking, reverse parking sensors, speed slerts, seat belt reminder and ISOFIX child seat anchors will come as standard.
