Tata Tigor Electric

Tata’s first EV will deliver a higher electric range of 220–250km on a single charge.

Tata Motors aims to expand its electric vehicle product portfolio in the next two years in India. The carmaker will introduce its first electric vehicle for personal buyers in 2020. While the name of the vehicle will be revealed in near future, it’s likely to be the Tata Tigor EV. It will deliver a higher electric range of 220km – 250km on a single charge.

The home-grown carmaker supplied the first batch of Tata Tigor EV to EESI (Energy Efficiency Services) in December 2017. The company is, currently, in a process to delivery 4,800 units of the electric sedan.

Electric vehicles promise to be game changers for the Indian market. Though, the lack of charging infrastructure, less driving range and higher costs are the major constraints in its adoption. Tata Motors believes that an electric vehicle with range of 220km-250km on a single change will solve the daily commuting purpose of personal buyers.

Tata Motors believes that the reducing battery costs will boost the EV sales in the fleet segment in a couple of years. For personal buyers, it might become mainstream commute in the next 4-5 years. Read – Tata Harrier 7-Seater Coming This Year
