First Batch Of Tata Tigor Electric Rolled Out From the Sanand Plant

The Tata Tigor is the first electric vehicle from the home-grown carmaker in the country.

The first batch of the Tata Tigor Electric Vehicle(EV) has been rolled out from the carmaker’s Sanand plant in Gujarat. The Tigor EVs will be procured to state-run EESL (Energy Efficiency Services Ltd.) at the lowest quoted price of Rs 10.16 lakh (exclusive of GST). Under the assigned deal, Tata Motors will provide 10,000 electric cars and the production of the cars will take place in two phases. The phase 1 will include deliveries of 250 Tigor EVs, and the additional 100 units will be issued in the phase 2.

Technical details of the Tata Tigor electric are still under the wraps. Though, it is reported to use a liquid-cooled 85kW drive motor that’s good for 200Nm. Paired with a 6-speed gearbox, the electric sedan could do 0-100kmph in less than 11 seconds. Its electric range is estimated to be around 100kms in a single charge.

Besides this, the Pune-based carmaker is working on an electric mini-hatchback christened as ‘Jayem Neo’. The Jayem Neo is essentially an electric version of the Nano hatchback that will be produced and marketed by Jayem Automotives.
