Aprilia RS 150 to Tuono – 4 New Aprilia Bikes Under 150cc for India by 2020

All 4 upcoming Aprilia bikes will be priced between Rs 80,000 and Rs 1.5 lakh.

Aprilia, the Italian two-wheeler maker is all set to enter in the entry-level motorcycle segment in India. The company plans to launch 4 new motorcycles between 125-150cc segment. All 4 bikes will be sporty in nature and will take on motorcycles from Bajaj-KTM, TVS Motor and Yamaha. The report further claims that the new motorcycles will be priced in the range of 80,000 – 1.5 lakh.

Piaggio Group plans to launch the first motorcycle under the Aprilia nameplate in 2020, which will be followed by 3 more models. Speaking to ET Auto, Diego Graffi, MD Piaggio Vehicles India, said, “When we entered the scooter space, we focused on the premium end and the same is the case with the range of motorcycles we plan to bring in. We plan to start manufacturing a 150cc bike in next 12-15 months. We plan to launch four motorbikes under Aprilia.”

Piaggio had showcased two concepts – the RS 150 fully-faired motorcycle and the Tuono 150 street bike – at the 2018 Auto Expo. The company claims that these 2 bikes received positive feedback from visitors. It is confirmed that the new motorcycles will be based on the concepts showcased at the Auto Expo.

Interestingly, the company is also working on a street motorcycle. The report claims that this motorcycle will come with a bigger displacement engine. The first Aprilia motorcycle to be launched in India is the RS 150 fully-faired motorcycle, which will challenge the Yamaha R15 V3.0. In fact, the company has recently showcased this motorcycle to its dealer partners.

Powering the Aprilia RS 150 is a 150cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel injected engine that is capable of producing 18bhp of power at 10,000rpm and 14Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox.
