Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest carmaker will launch 2 all-new cars in the Indian car market this year. First model to go on sale is the new Ertiga, which will be followed by new generation Maruti WagonR. The new generation Ertiga will come with new design, new interior, features and more powerful diesel engine. Here we bring you a list of top 5 changes you can expect in the new generation Maruti Ertiga –
New HEARTECT Platform
Like the new Swift and Dzire, the new Ertiga will be based on Suzuki’s new generation HEARTECT platform. This platform is claimed to be lighter, stiffer and safer than the previous model. Thanks to the new platform, the new model will be safer and more fuel efficient than the outgoing model. The new Heartech platform is built of high strength steel, which reduces its weight and improves its structural integrity.
SmartPlay Infotainment System
The new Ertiga is expected to share most of its interior features with the new Swift. While the entry-level variants will come equipped with basic music system, the top-end model will get Suzuki’s new SmartPlay infotainment system. This system is compatible with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and other connected car applications. Adding to it, the touchscreen will also act as a display for rear parking camera. New Design
Though the new Ertiga design details are yet to be revealed, it is expected that the new model will have all-new design with modern features. Going by the spyshots available on web, it is visible that the new model will have a broader front fascia with new design elements. It is expected to feature a new grille, design in-line with new Swift, new headlamps with LED DRLs, new fog lamp assembly and sculpted bonnet. The side profile will be similar to existing model; however, it will have new roof rails, new wheels, ORVMs with integrated blinkers and more prominent beltline. At the back, the MPV is likely to continue with flat profile. It will have new LED tail-lights, new roof-mounted spoiler and new bumpers. More Powerful Diesel Engine
The outgoing model is powered by a 1.3-litre MJD diesel engine with SHVS mild hybrid technology. This engine is capable of producing 89bhp of power and 200Nm of torque. This is Fiat’s sourced MultiJet engine, which is likely to be phased out from the market once BSVI emission norms implemented. If rumours are to be believed, the new Ertiga will be equipped with Maruti’s newly developed 1.5-litre diesel engine that is likely to produce around 100bhp of power and over 200Nm of torque. It is quite early to comment whether the new diesel engine will come with Suzuki’s new smart hybrid vehicle system. Also See – 2018 Maruti Ciaz Facelift Launch, Price and Specifications
Spacious Cabin
The new platform will also help Maruti to create more space inside the cabin, especially for the rear occupants. This model will have longer wheelbase, which results into better legroom and kneeroom space. Adding to it, the new Ertiga will be broader than the previous model to offer more shoulder space.
