5 Hyundai Creta Rivals

Here is the list of top five upcoming SUVs that will rival the Hyundai Creta in India

Hyundai Creta has been the best-selling car in the compact SUV space of the Indian car market. The compact SUV looks premium and offers a wide range of in-car technologies and features. In order to tap this SUV space and compete Hyundai Creta, globally renowned automakers will soon launch their respective SUVs in India. Here are the five upcoming SUVs that will rival the Hyundai Creta in India.

Jeep Renegade

Buoyed by excellent response for Compass, Jeep is now planning to launch its smallest SUV – Renegade in the Indian market. It is based on the small-wide platform that also underpins the Compass. Like the Compass, it will be locally developed at the company’s Ranjangaon facility.

This model will share several features from the Compass; however, it will be smaller and less powerful. It is expected to be powered by the same 2.0-litre MJD diesel or a 1.4-litre MultiAir petrol engine that also powers its bigger sibling. Media reports also claim that this SUV could feature the company’s 1.6-litre MJD diesel engine that is good for 118bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer.

New Gen Renault Duster

French automaker will soon introduce the India-bound new generation Duster at the 2018 Moscow Motor Show. In India, Renault will launch the new Duster in 2019. It will be more premium and feature loaded than the outgoing model, which could help the automaker to improve its sales. The new Duster will continue to be based on the same BO platform; however, this platform has been modified for improved driving dynamics. It will be powered by a 1.5-litre K9K diesel and 1.5-litre petrol engines. Both manual and automatic versions will be on offer.

Nissan Kicks

Japanese automaker, Nissan has confirmed that it will launch the Kicks global SUV in India this year. While the global model is based on Nissan’s V platform, the India-spec model will be based on the same BO platform that also underpins the Renault Captur and Duster. Similar to the Captur, Nissan will position Kicks as an urban SUV. However, it will be priced lower than the Captur.

It is expected that Kicks will feature the 1.5-litre K9K diesel engine and 1.5-litre petrol engine. The SUV will directly rival the Hyundai Creta.

– Maruti Suzuki Vitara

Maruti Suzuki is planning to introduce a more premium SUV in the Indian market. If reports are to be believed, the Indo-Japanese automaker could launch the global Suzuki Vitara 5-seater SUV in India. In fact, this SUV has been spotted testing on Indian roads. The India-spec model will be based on the modified C platform that also underpins the Vitara Brezza. It is expected that the new 5-seater premium SUV will be equipped with Fiat’s sourced 1.6-litre MJD diesel engine. The company is also working on a new 1.5-litre diesel engine, which could also be used to power this SUV.

MG ZS

Chinese automaker SAIC has taken over the GM’s Halol plant in Gujarat and will soon start selling its MG Motor brand’s car in India from 2019. The first vehicle to go on sale in India will be MG ZS, which will be a direct competitor to the Creta. If reports are to be believed, the India-spec model will be powered by Fiat’s sourced 2.0-litre MJD diesel engine that also powers the Jeep Compass. However, this engine will be detuned for lesser power and higher fuel efficiency.
