It’s been a few weeks, Kawasaki introduced five new motorcycles – Z900, Z650, updated Versys 650 and Ninja 300 – in the country. Now, the Japanese bikemaker has launched the 2017 model of the Z250, Z1000 and Z1000R Edition. While the new Kawasaki Z250 comes with a price tag of 3.09 lakh, the 2017 Kawasaki Z1000 and Z1000R are available at Rs 14.49 lakh and Rs 15.49 lakh respectively. Powering the 2017 Kawasaki Z1000 and Z1000R is the same 1,043cc 4 stroke, 4 cylinder liquid cooled engine paired to a 6-speed gearbox. This motor is now calibrated to meet the BSIV emission norms. Its power and torque figures stand at 142bhp and 111Nm respectively. The power deliver is smoother than before, thanks to its tweaked engine control unit (ECU). Kawasaki has also revised the front suspension of the bike. The rear linkage setup now comes with 13mm more travel, thus making its ride more comfortable. With an aim to improve the feedback while braking, the company has updated the brake pads of the bike. The tuned rear-view mirrors now offer better adjustability. The bike also receives instrument console integrated gear position indicator and a shift light.
Coming to the 2017 Kawasaki Z1000R, this edition comes with an accessory kit that includes Brembo M50 Monobloc callipers, an Ohlins monoshock rear suspension unit and special disc brakes at the front axle. With more tuned ECU, the Z1000R offers better performance than the regular Z1000. Both the bikes ride on 120/70ZR117M/C (58W) front and 190/50ZR17M/C (73W) rear tyres. In terms of proportions, the 2017 Kawasaki Z1000 and Z1000R measure 2,045mm in length, 790mm in width and 1,055mm in height with a wheelbase of 1,435mm. The bike offers a seat height of 815mm, while standing on a 125mm ground clearance. It has a fuel tank capacity of 17-liters. The 2017 Kawasaki Z1000 comes in two colour options – Metallic Spark Black and Golden Blazed Green. On the other hand, the 2017 Kawasaki Z1000 R Edition is available in Metallic Spark Black and Metallic Graphite Grey shades.
