Upcoming Maruti Mid-Size SUV – What We Know So Far

Maruti Suzuki is all set to challenge dominance of the Hyundai Creta in the mid-size SUV segment. The Indo-Japanese carmaker has co-developed a new SUV with Toyota, which is reported to arrive during 2022 festive season. As of now, there is no information on its name and details. – Interestingly, Toyota’s Bidadi manufacturing plant in Karnataka will serve as production hub for the new Maruti SUV.

– The model will be designed on the localized version of Toyota’s TNGA-B platform. In fact, Toyota will supply some crucial systems for Maruti’s Creta rival.

New Maruti Mid Size SUV

– Powertrain system of the SUV is likely to include two petrol engines boosted with mild and strong hybrid technology. In order to achieve competitive pricing, the company will source locally manufactured hybrid components.

– The upcoming Maruti mid-size SUV will look different from Toyota’s new SUV. While the former will share some of its design elements with the global-spec Suzuki A-Cross, the latter will borrow its styling bits from the Toyota Corolla Cross and RAV4 SUVs.

– Some of its key design highlights will include a honeycomb grille, dual LED DRLs, split headlamp setup, LED taillamps and a high ground clearance.

Maruti Creta Rival

– In terms of features, the SUV is likely to be offered with a larger touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Several advanced goodies will also be on offer such as a digital instrument cluster, a 360 degree camera, Heads-Up Display (HUD), wireless smartphone charging, connected car tech, electrically adjustable driver’s seat and ORVMs, sunroof and more.

– Speculations are on rife that the Indo-Japanese automaker might equip its new SUV with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system).
