Unofficial bookings for the new 2022 Maruti Brezza have already been commenced at select Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships. While the automaker hasn’t yet revealed its launch date, the model is reported to hit roads on 30th June 2022. Major changes will be made to its underpinning, exterior and interior. The new-generation model is likely to be safer and more fuel efficient than the existing one. In the subcompact SUV space, the new Brezza will continue to take on the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Toyota Urban Cruiser.
Talking about engine, the new Maruti Brezza 2022 will derive power from the updated 1.5L K15C Dualjet petrol engine borrowed from the new Eritga. The new motor will be slightly less powerful (2bhp) and more fuel efficient that the current engine, thanks to its two injectors per cylinder. The old 4-speed torque convertor gearbox will be replaced with a new 6-speed unit. A 5-speed manual gearbox will continue to come as standard. Speculations are on rife that the carmaker will introduce the CNG version of the subcompact SUV with the mid-life update.
In terms of features, the new Brezza will have several new goodies to offer. There will be an all-new dashboard with an integrated 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The unit with new Smartplay Pro+ interface is likely to support wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Similar to the new Baleno, the SUV’s next-generation model will have wireless phone charging, connected car tech, Head-Up Display, a new instrument cluster, a 360 degree camera, sunroof and a new flat bottom steering.
According to GNCAP secretary general, Alejandro Furas, the Brezza/Urban Cruiser can get 5-star safety rating in crash test. The new 2022 Maruti Brezza is likely to be equipped with the electronic stability control and 6 airbags. A few new safety fitments could also be offered. The carmaker will introduce new colour scheme on the new-generation Brezza model lineup including Green.
