Hyundai Exter Subcompact SUV Caught Testing In The Snow

Hyundai has officially announced to introduce the new Exter micro SUV in our market before the end of this year. The new Hyundai Exter subcompact SUV has been spotted testing in the north of Sweden. While the small SUV was caught testing in Europe, the new model will mainly target India and other growing markets.

The new Hyundai Exter will be placed below the Venue in terms of size and pricing. It is based on the Grand i10 Nios platform that underpins the Hyundai Casper. However, the new Exter is slightly bigger than the Casper that is only sold in the South Korean market.

Hyundai Exter Spotted In Sweden

The new Hyundai Exter is expected to measure around 3.8 meters in length, while the Casper is a 3.6 meters micro SUV. The heavily camouflaged Exter sub-compact SUV has a boxy silhouette and a larger tailgate than the Casper. However, it shares some of the modern aesthetic features of its design from its Korean sibling. The small SUV gets slim, high-beam headlamps with H-shaped daytime running lights, which seems inspired from the new Santa Fe. The main low beam and high beam headlights are placed on the bumper ends.

The rear end was heavily covered; however, it has LED tail-lamps installed in a wide tailgate. The spy shots reveal that the small SUV will ride on newly styled 15-inch alloy wheels. The cabin of the new Hyundai Exter is expected to come with different color combinations. It will have a multi-layered dashboard with a touch screen on the center console equipped with a multimedia system with connectivity services. Previous spy images reveal that the new Hyundai Exter will have an electric sunroof. Other features could include a multi-functional steering wheel, automatic AC, reverse parking camera, 6 airbags and others.

The Tata Punch-rival will be powered by a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 81bhp and 114Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and an AMT. The small SUV will also receive a CNG powertrain with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The Exter is also likely to get a new 100bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox options.

Hyundai Exter Launch & Price

Estimated to be priced in the range of Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, the new Exter will directly challenge the Tata Punch. It will also challenge the likes of the Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger. While the official launch timeline is yet to be revealed, the new Exter is expected to go on sale by August 2023.
