Volkswagen Virtus New Variant, Special Editions Revealed – Video

Volkswagen India introduced its new Virtus midsize sedan in June 2022. The model, which has been doing well in terms of sales, is ready to complete its first successful year in the country. In order to celebrate the occasion, the German automaker will expand the sedan model lineup with a new manual variant and special editions. Prices of the new Volkswagen Virtus variants will be announced in June 2023.

The new manual version will be based on the higher GT Plus trim and come with the 1.5L TSI petrol engine (150bhp/250Nm) and a 6-speed manual gearbox. As of now, the 1.5L TSI petrol motor is available only with the 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox and the combo is reserved for the GT Plus trim. The sedan’s new manual variant will be put up against the recently-launched next-generation Hyundai Verna that’s available with the new 160bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol engine.

Volkswagen Virtus Special Edition

As mentioned above, the Volkswagen Virtus will also receive new special editions including GT Edge Limited Collection in Deep Black Pearl finish. It will be offered with both manual and automatic gearbox options. Besides this, the Virtus sedan will get the new Lava Blue colour that was recently introduced in Skoda Slavia model lineup (Anniversary Edition and Kushaq Lava Blue Edition).

Volkswagen is working on a new entry-level electric car that will be designed on the VW ID 2 electric hatchback’s MEB FWD platform. The latter one was showcased in its concept avatar. The ID 2 small-battery EV previews Volkswagen’s new design language. The new VW EV for India is likely to be a compact SUV that might hit roads after 2025. Here, it will be positioned against the cars like Hyundai Kona EV, MG ZS EV and Mahindra XUV400. It will be a fully localized electric car, measuring above 4 meters.
