New-Gen Mahindra Bolero – New Platform, Expected Changes

Mahindra Bolero is the top-selling SUV of the home-grown automaker in the country. The model, which is quite popular in rural and semi-urban markets, has always been favoured for its rugged body-built, practicality and fuel efficiency. The SUV is now due for a generation change. However, there is no official word on its launch timeline and details.

If reports are to be believed, the new-gen Mahindra Bolero will share its platform with the Scorpio N that’s made of high-strength steel. It’s lightweight (213kgs) and stiffer. Significant changes are expected to be made to its exterior. The all-new Bolero might have bolder front fascia featuring the chrome accented seven-slot grille with brand’s new signature twin-peak logo, rectangular LED headlights, revised bumper and fog lamps with chrome surround.

The carmaker might upgrade its fit and finish levels and material quality. It could also be packed with some new goodies such as a touchscreen infotainment system, a multi functional steering wheel, height adjustable driver’s seat and automatic AC unit. Most of features will be carried forward from the current model including an audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, power windows, 12V accessory socket, remote locking, engine idle stop/start system, digital instrument cluster, driver airbag, rear parking sensors, ABS (anti-lock braking system) and front seatbelt reminder.

The new-gen Mahindra Bolero might witness minor dimensional changes, thus making it slightly bigger and more spacious. The three-row seat configuration is one of its USPs that’s likely to be carried forward. Under the hood, the SUV is likely to feature a 2.2L mHawk diesel and a 2.0L turbo petrol engine the power the current generation. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.

With some major updates, the new-gen Mahindra Bolero will surely witness a price hike. Currently, the SUV model lineup is available in three trims – B4, B6 and B6 (O) – priced at Rs 9.78 lakh, Rs 10 lakh and Rs 10.79 lakh respectively.
