TVS Retron – Retro-Classic Radeon or Electric Scooter?

TVS Motor Company recently trademarked three names for its upcoming models – Zeppelin R, Raider and Retron. While the Zeppelin R will be a powerful version of the TVS Zeppelin concept based cruiser motorcycle, the Raider might be the first adventure tourer from the Chennai-based two-wheeler maker. There is no clarity yet for the TVS Retron nameplate if it would be used for a new electric scooter or retro-classic version of the Radeon.

Just so you know, the company previewed the TVS Creon electric scooter concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. The model was packed with a 3-state-of-the-art Li-ion batteries delivering 12kW of instant power. The electric scooter was claimed to do 0 to 60kmph in less than 5.1 seconds. It promises an electric range of 80km. The scooter’s battery can be juiced up upto 80% in just 60 minutes.

BS6 TVS Radeon Specs

Based on the lightweight perimeter frame, the scooter features all LED headlamps, diamond cut alloys, dual disc brakes, single-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system), anti theft, park assist and regenerative braking system. The bikemaker equipped the Creon with several connectivity features along with 3 custom riding modes. There is a colour TFT instrument console that’s compatible to geo-fencing and navigation. Its console shows battery charge, health status, speedometer, odometer and trip meter.

As mentioned above, the TVS Retron might also be a new variant of the Radeon motorcycle with retro-classic design. It could be similar to the Hero Splendor Pro Classic that gets café-racer style seat with a pillion cowl, chromed fenders, clubman style handlebars and spoke wheels over the regular Splendor.

Currently, the TVS Radeon comes with the BS6-compliant 109.7cc, air-cooled engine that’s good enough for 8.08bhp and 8.7Nm. The updated motor is claimed to offer 15 per cent more fuel economy than its BS4 version. Recently, the model also receives a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox and wet multi plate type clutch.
