TVS Motor Company is looking aggressive with its product strategy for the Indian market. The company is readying an all-new cruiser motorcycle, which is likely to be called the Zeppelin R. The homegrown two-wheeler maker has also registered Raider, Retron and the Fiero 125 nameplate. The Raider and Retron are expected to be entry-level motorcycles, but the big news is that the TVS Fiero nameplate could make a comeback.
For people not in the know, TVS had introduced the Fiero as its first 150cc motorcycle in partnership with Suzuki in 2000. This motorcycle was pitted against the popular Honda CBZ and the Bajaj Pulsar. Despite offering pretty good performance, it failed in the market due to its simple or not so appealing looks.
The company had updated the Fiero with new variants, but it was discontinued due to low sales. Going by the new developments, it is expected that the TVS Fiero is all set to make a comeback. The new Fiero in new avatar will come as a 125cc bike.
TVS Motor Company is not offering a motorcycle in a fairly popular 125cc commuter motorcycle segment, which is currently dominated by Honda and Hero MotoCorp. In fact, Bajaj is also offering the Pulsar 125 in the competitive 125cc segment. The registering of the new Fiero 125 name suggests that TVS will finally have a motorcycle in the premium 125cc commuter motorcycle segment.
The Fiero 150 was introduced a sporty motorcycle, and the same is expected with the new 125cc bike. TVS Motor Company is likely to introduce the new Fiero 125 with sporty character. It is expected to be positioned against the Honda SP 125 and the Bajaj Pulsar 125. The exact launch timeline is yet to be announced, but we expect the new bike to come in 2021.
