TVS Motor Company recently trademarked the name ‘Zeppelin R’ for its upcoming cruiser that’s likely to put up against the Jawa Classic 350, newly-launched Honda H’Ness CB350 and the upcoming Royal Enfield Meteor. While there is no official information about the product, the TVS Zeppelin R is likely to come with 250cc or 310cc powerful engine. If it happens, the new TVS cruiser motorcycle will be more powerful than its rivals. Just so you know, TVS Zeppelin cruiser concept was previewed at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The concept model was powered by a 220cc, single-cylinder motor coupled with 1,200 watt regenerative assist motor with a 48 volt Lithium-ion battery. The company says that it delivers 20% more torque when needed. The production version of the performance cruiser might feature the same powertrain. This will become India’s first bike to get mild-hybrid system.
Reports suggest that the production-ready Zeppelin might be named ‘TVS Ronin’. Most of the design bits and features are likely to be carried over from the concept. In the concept avatar, the cruiser offers LED headlamp, fuel tank with chiselled line, split seat, flat-track style handlebar and 17-inch front and 15-inch rear wheels with 110/70 front and 140/70 Pirelli tyres.
In terms of features, it has an HD action camera mounted on the headlamp nacelle, digital readouts, a compact instrument console with an analogue rev counter, Smart Bio-Key and online connectivity. The final model might be devoid of action camera and alloy wheels could replace the spoke wheels.
As of now, no words have been conveyed from the bikemaker about the Zeppelin or Zeppelin R launch timeline. Though, both models are expected to hit roads sometime next year. As far as pricing is concerned, the TVS Zeppelin R might cost around Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
