Tata Motors has recently launched the new Tiago EV, which is also the country’s most affordable electric vehicle. The homegrown automaker is also working on multiple new EVs along with updated versions of its existing range. In this article, we bring you a list of top 5 new Tata cars & SUVs to launch in the country in 2023 –
1. Tata Harrier Facelift
Tata Motors is preparing to give a mid-life facelift to its popular mid-sized SUV, the Harrier. In fact, testing of the new model has already been commenced. The new model will come significant design changes along with an upgraded cabin. It will also come with advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) tech with features like automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, blind spot detection, lane assist and others. The SUV will continue to be offered with the same 2.0L turbo diesel engine with manual and automatic gearbox.
2. Tata Safari Facelift
Tata Motors is also preparing to give a major upgrade to its 7-seater Safari SUV. The new model will also receive changes inline with the new Harrier. It will come with a larger touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity along with connected car tech. The SUV will also receive ADAS Tech as its direct rival Mahindra XUV700 also comes with this advanced tech feature. It will also receive the existing 2.0L turbo diesel engine that produces 173bhp and 350Nm of torque.
3. Tata Altroz EV
Tata Motors had showcased the Altroz EV at the 2020 Auto Expo. The company has now started testing the electric hatchback. It is expected to be launched sometime in early next year. The new model will look largely identical to the existing model, except for the EV specific changes. It will have restyled bumpers, a closed-off grille, air dams with star pattern and new alloys with blue highlights and blacked-out section of the tailgate. It is expected to come with lighter upholstery and a rotary gear selector. The new model is likely to come with Ziptron electric technology that is also offered on the long range Tata Nexon EV.
4. Tata Punch EV
Tata Motors will also launch the Punch based electric subcompact SUV in 2023. The new model will use the Ziptron EV powertrain technology that powers the Nexon EV. It is likely to feature a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack powering a 129bhp, electric motor mounted on the front axle. The new model is likely to offer an electric range of over 300kms.
5. Tata Nexon CNG
Tata Motors is also testing the CNG versions of the Altroz and the Nexon. Both models are expected to be launched sometime in 2023. The Nexon CNG is likely to be powered by a 1.2L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine with a factory-fitted CNG kit. The engine is likely to produce around 100bhp of power.
