1. New Maruti Brezza – June 30, 2022

After introducing the new Baleno, Maruti Suzuki is now gearing up for the launch of the much-awaited new Brezza. The SUV has recently been caught during its official TVC shoot. Most of the design and interior details are already out on the Internet. The new model will be based on the modified version of the existing Global C platform.

The new Maruti Brezza will receive significant design changes and all-new interior along with a new engine-gearbox combination. The big changes will be made inside the cabin. It will receive all-new dashboard in a new dual-tone colour scheme. The SUV gets a large touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a 360 degree camera, Head-Up Display or HUD, an automatic AC, new twin-dial instrument console, connected car tech, an electric sunroof and rear AC vents.

Maruti Suzuki will aim to achieve 5 star safety rating for the new Brezza. It will come with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold assist, tyre pressure monitoring system and electronic stability control. The SUV will be powered by a new 1.5L, 4-cylinder K15C Dualjet petrol engine that produces 103bhp and 137Nm of torque. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

2. Toyota HyRyder – July 1, 2022

The first all-new product developed by Suzuki and Toyota JV will make its global debut on July 1, 2022. Called the Toyota Urban Cruiser HyRyder, the new SUV will be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, VW Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq.

The new Toyota Hyryder will be based on the heavily localised TNGA-B or DNGA platform. It will be produced at Toyota’s Plant 2 in Bidadi, Karnataka. The SUV’s design and interior will have similarities with the new Corolla Cross.

It will come with a 1.5L petrol engine with a mild hybrid system and a 1.5L petrol engine with a strong hybrid system. The mild hybrid unit and strong hybrid unit will offer 103PS and 116PS respectively. While the mild hybrid system will get manual and automatic gearbox, the strong hybrid unit will come with e-CVT. The SUV will be the only vehicle in the category to offer AWD (All-Wheel-Drive) system. The strong hybrid setup will come with the self charging and FWD (front-wheel drive) system as standard.

3. New Toyota Urban Cruiser – July, 2022

Similar to the new Baleno & the Glanza, Toyota will introduce the new Urban Cruiser soon after the launch of the new Brezza. The new Urban Cruiser will receive changes in-line with the new Brezza. However, Toyota will make more changes to its design and interior to keep things fresh in the market.

The new Urban Cruiser will share all the features and components with the new Brezza. The 2022 Toyota Urban Cruiser will be based on the existing platform, which is Suzuki’s Global C architecture. It will be powered by a new 1.5-litre Dualjet petrol engine that powers the new XL6 and the Ertiga. This engine churns out 103bhp at 6,000rpm and a peak torque of 136.8Nm at 4,400rpm. The gearbox options will include a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic with paddle shifters.

4. Mahindra Scorpio-N – June 27, 2022

Mahindra will launch the much-awaited new-gen Scorpio-N in the country on June 27, 2022. The SUV will be sold alongside the existing Scorpio, which will be called the Scorpio Classic. Mahindra has already released the exterior and interior images of the new Scorpio-N.

The new Mahindra Scorpio-N looks way more premium and feature-loaded than the current model. It is significantly bigger than the current model, which results into more space inside the cabin. The SUV will come with front-facing third-row seat instead of bench-type in the Scorpio Classic. In terms of features, the SUV gets height adjustable seat belts, ventilated front seats, powered drivers’ seat with lumbar support, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, connected car tech, a 12-speaker Sony sound system, an electric sunroof, a semi-digital instrument console, a dual-zone climate control, a wireless charger, etc.

For safety and security, the SUV offers multiple airbags, cruise control, 360 degree camera, traction control, tyre pressure monitoring system, hill descent control and others. The new Mahindra Scorpio-N 2022 will be offered with two engine options – a 2.2L mHawk turbo diesel and a 2.0L mStallion turbo petrol. The diesel engine is likely to offer two states of tunes – 130PS and 160PS, while the petrol engine will produce close to 170PS. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.

5. Volvo XC40 Recharge – July 20, 2022

Volvo Cars India has announced to launch locally assembled XC40 Recharge pure electric SUV on July 20, 2022. Deliveries for the new model will commence in October 2022. The XC40 Recharge looks largely identical to its ICE version, except for the few EV-centric changes.

The front fascia comes with a white-finished panel instead of the traditional Volvo grille. The SUV gets aerodynamically designed 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside the cabin, the new Volvo XC40 Recharge gets a 12-inch digital instrument console, a touchscreen infotainment system, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone climate control, leather upholstery, wireless phone charging, powered front seats, and others.

It features a 78kWh battery pack and 204bhp electric motors delivering a combined power output of 408bhp and 660Nm. It comes with AWD system. The battery pack can be charged up to 80% from zero in 40 minutes via a 150kW DC charger. It also supports a standard 11kW AC charger. It is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in 4.9 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 180kmph. The SUV offers a range of 418km on a single charge.
