Mahindra & Mahindra will announce prices of the third-generation Scorpio SUV on 27th June 2022. The company has already begun dispatching the new model to its dealerships across the country. Called the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N, the SUV comes with heavily updated design, feature-packed interior and new, more powerful engines. Here’re all key details of the new Scorpio N that we know so far.
Exterior
The 2022 Mahindra Scorpio N retained the signature upright and boxy stance. Though, the modern touches make things interesting. Compared to the existing model, the new one has more angular and slimmer LED headlamps, newly-designed grille with six chrome slats featuring new Mahindra logo at the centre and differently designed turn indicators.
The SUV has a stepped roofline and machine-finished alloy wheels. Its new taillamps seems inspired by Volvo SUVs. The Scorpio-N is bigger than the current-generation model. It’s overall length, width and height stand at 4,662mm, 1,917mm in width and 1,870mm in height respectively. The SUV has a wheelbase of 2,750mm. Interior
Major changes will be made inside the cabin. The new Mahindra Scorpio N will have a dashboard integrated 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. For entertainment purpose, there will be a Sony audio system with 12-speakers. The SUV will also offer connected car tech with built-in Alexa support, twin-pod instrument cluster, dual-tone upholstery, a flat-bottom steering wheel, a 360 degree camera, an electric sunroof, dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, engine start/stop button, driver drowsiness detection, cruise control, multiple airbags and more.
The new Scorpio-N will come in 6 and 7-seats configurations with front facing seats in the third row. The middle row will have captains seats and its lower variants could be offered with a bench-style seats. The third row seats will have 60:40 split ratio.
Engines, Gearboxes
The new 2022 Mahindra Scorpio-N will source its power from the 2.0L turbo petrol and 2.2L mHawk diesel engines. The turbo-petrol unit will be good for 170PS and the turbo-diesel motor will deliver 130PS and 160PS. Buyers will have a choice between a 6-speed manual and torque convertor automatic transmission. The low and high range gearbox with four pre-set traction will also be on offer.
Mahindra Scorpio-N 4Xplor
The 4WD (four-wheel drive) variants of the SUV will be named Mahindra Scorpio N 4Xplor. It will be available with both petrol and diesel engines. The RWD (rear-wheel drive) system will come as standard. The new Scorpio-N will also be equipped with rear mechanical locking differentials, hill descent control, brake locking differential and shift-on-fly. Its off-road statistics will be displayed on the infotainment unit.
Expected Prices
While its official prices will be revealed in coming days, we expect to cost between Rs 12 lakh – Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). The company will continue to sell the existing Scorpio alongside the new-generation model. Though, the current version will get minor updates inside and out. Its prices might remain unchanged – i.e. Rs 13.53 lakh for the base model and Rs 18.61 lakh for the top-end variant.
