The second wave lockdown restrictions have eased down, and most car manufacturers have resumed operations at their plants in a phased manner. In fact, the automobile industry witnessed an impressive growth in the month of June. In order to boost the sales, most carmakers lined-up several new cars/SUVs for the coming months. Here’s a brief of the top 5 new cars that can be launched anytime soon.

1. Tata Dark Editions

Tata Motors has teased its upcoming range of Dark Editions including the Nexon, Nexon EV, Altroz and updated Harrier. All models are likely to hit roads in coming days. The Dark Editions will get sporty black treatment inside and out. Features such as ‘Dark’ emblem on the front fender, black coloured alloy wheels and black ORVMs and skid plates will differentiate Dark Editions from their standard models. The interior will have all-black theme with piano black finish on dashboard. Engine setup of the upcoming Tata Dark Editions will remain unchanged.

2. Mahindra XUV700

The production-ready Mahindra XUV700 is likely to debut this month (July) and its launch might happen near around 15th August 2021. It will be the most powerful SUV in its segment. The XUV700 is reported to come with the 2.2L turbo diesel and 2.0L turbo petrol engines making power worth 185bhp and 200bhp. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer. The new Mahindra three-row SUV will offer the segment’s largest sunroof along with several class-leading features such as auto booster headlamps, personalized safety alerts and more.

3. Volkswagen Taigun

The German carmaker is ready to enter into the mid-size SUV segment with the all-new Volkswagen Taigun that’s slated to hit roads in August 2021. It will be the company’s first production model to be based on the India-specific MQB A0 IN platform that debut on the Skoda Kushaq. The SUV will be offered with a 1.0L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo petrol engine making power worth 155PS with 175Nm and 150PS with 250Nm respectively. There will be three gearboxes on offer – 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque convertor automatic and 7-speed automatic.

4. New-Gen Maruti Celerio

Unofficial bookings of the new-generation Maruti Celerio have already been commenced at a token amount range from 5,000 to Rs 11,000. It’s official prices are likely to be announced in September 2021. The hatchback will underpin the Heartect platform and witness significant changes in terms of design, features and dimensions. In fact, it’s likely to come with the more refined 1.2L petrol engine that’s good for 82bbhp and 113Nm. The same motor does duty in the Maruti WagonR. The existing 1.0L K10B petrol will also be on offer. It will continue to be offered with a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox.

5. Toyota Belta

Toyota’s re-badged version of the Maruti Ciaz sedan is likely to hit showrooms in the month of August. The mid-size sedan could be introduced with the Toyota Belta nameplate. Minor cosmetic changes such as chromed ‘Toyota’ badge and newly-developed alloy wheels are expected to be made. Under the hood, the Belta will feature the same 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine making power worth 104bhp and 138Nm of torque. For performing transmission duties, the sedan will have a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox.
