We informed you earlier that the much-awaited Mahindra XUV700 will make its global debut in the end of July 2021. In fact, Mahindra has started teasing the key features of the 7-seater premium SUV. It is expected that the new XUV700 7-seater could be launched on Independence Day, 2021. For people not in the know, the new-gen Thar was revealed on August 15, 2020.
The Mahindra XUV700 will come as a replacement for the ageing XUV500. The XUV500 will be re-launched as a 5-seater model. It will sit around 4.3 meters and will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta and the Kia Seltos. On the other hand, the new Mahindra XUV700 will rival the MG Hector Plus and the Tata Safari. It is expected to be priced between Rs 15 lakh and Rs 22 lakh.
The new Mahindra XUV700 7-seater SUV will be offered with two engine options – a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel and a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol. These engines currently powers the Thar; however, the XUV700 will receive a more powerful versions of petrol and diesel engines. The diesel engine is expected to produce close to 185bhp of power, while the petrol engine is reportedly to produce around 200bhp of power.
Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. It will also receive an optional all-wheel-drive system. The new XUV700 is likely to come with a mild-hybrid system, which will make the new model cleaner and fuel efficient. This will make the new model compliant with the upcoming stringent CAFE 2 (Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency) norm. The new CAFE II norms will come into effect in 2022 and the BS6 Stage II norms are set to come into force beginning April 2023.
The new Mahindra XUV700 7-seater SUV will receive segment-first ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems). The homegrown automaker joined hands with South Korean Mando company to source ADAS. It will offer features like Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning and Park Assist.
The new XUV700 7-seater will come with segment-largest sunroof (1,360mm X 870mm), called Skyroof. Adding to it, the SUV will get Auto Booster Headlamps, which improves the overall safety while driving at night. It will also receive personalised safety alert system, which alerts you if you overspeed that too in a customized voice of your loved one.
