Volkswagen Taigun Base Variant Features Revealed In New Images

Volkswagen Taigun Standard Features

The base variant of the Volkswagen Taigun was recently caught on camera during its test rounds. It seems to be the entry-level varaint painted in White shade, but covered with mud. The latest spy images reveal that the SUV’s base variant will miss out on the chrome grille, LED headlamps and chrome strips that runs across the front bumper. The test mule carries black grille with differently designed headlamps, which are likely to come with the halogen or projector units. The bumper’s chrome strip has been replaced with the silver coloured bar. The set of alloy wheels also appears different from the units we have seen earlier on the prototypes.

Volkswagen Taigun Base Variant

While variant-wise features of the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun are yet to be revealed, the carmaker has confirmed it will get a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system and engine start/stop button. The dashboard integrated info unit will be compatible to Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and the My Volkswagen connect app.

The new VW SUV will offer a wireless charging pad and USB Type-C ports. What further enhance its comfort quotient will be ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, a sunroof and a fully digital instrument cluster.

Volkswagen Taigun Interior

Based on Volkswagen Group’s India-specific MQB AO IN platform, the Volkswagen Taigun will come with the 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine options. The former has been tuned for producing power worth 155PS and 175Nm of torque, while the latter is good enough for 150PS and 250Nm. Similar to the newly-launched Skoda Kushaq, the VW Taigun could be offered with a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque converter and a 7-speed automatic gearbox.

The upcoming Volkswagen SUV is likely to be priced competitively. It’s base variant is estimated to cost around Rs 9 lakh and the fully-loaded top trim might come with a price tag of Rs 17.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
