2021 Maruti Celerio Bookings Open At Dealership Level

A few days back, we have reported that Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch the new-generation Celerio by September 2021. Ahead of its official arrival, select dealerships have started accepting bookings for the new model. The booking amount, which is refundable, ranges from Rs 5,000 to Rs 11,000. The leaked patent images of the 2021 Maruti Celerio reveal that the hatchback will receive significant cosmetic upgrades along with the bigger dimensions. Rumour also has it that the new Celerio will underpin the new Heartect platform that will make it more rigid, lighter and safer than before.

The spy pictures confirm that the new Maruti Celerio 2021 will ditch the upright, squarish stance for a more angular design. Upfront, the hatch will get a flattish oval grille featuring honeycomb pattern. While the front bumper will have minimal lines, the new triangular-shaped headlamps will carry rounded corners. A thin chrome bar will connect both the headlights. There will be black elements on the fog lamp surrounds and apron. Some of other design updates will include a larger glasshouse, angular side creases, a long tapering roofline, revised rear bumper and newly-designed wraparound LED taillamps.

One of the biggest interior changes will come in the form of the Maruti Suzuki’s SmartPlay infotainment system that will support Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Its official details are yet to be revealed. The 2021 Maruti Celerio is reported to come with  electrically adjustable ORVMs, a new centre console, a multi-functional steering wheel, keyless entry, multi information display, new upholstery, reverse parking sensors, dual front airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brakeforce distribution). The new Maruti Celerio 2021 will continue to derive its power from the BS6-compliant 1.0L, 3-cylinder K10B petrol engine that does duty in the current generation model. The gasoline delivers a claimed power of 66bhp and 90Nm of torque. Both 5-speed manual and AMT gearboxes will be on offer. Reports suggest that the carmaker might introduce the WagonR’s more refined 1.2L petrol engine (82bhp/113Nm) on the 2021 Maruti Celerio model lineup. The hatchback could also be offered with petrol + CNG kit combo.
