Tata Gravitas, Harrier Petrol Getting Ready For Launch – Spotted

Tata Motors has a handful of new products for the Indian market. The carmaker will bring in three new SUVs by March 2021 including the all-new Gravitas 6/7-seater SUV, HBX concept based mini SUV and Harrier turbo-petrol. Currently, all three upcoming SUVs are in their final testing phase and caught on camera multiple times. Recently, the fully camouflaged test mules of the Gravitas and Harrier petrol were spotted together.

One must note that the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed the launch date and details of both the models. If reports are to be believed, the Harrier petrol might arrive in coming months and Gravitas’ launch has been pushed to 2021. The latter one was earlier reported to hit roads during 2020 festive season. The Tata HBX micro SUV that will be put up against the Maruti Suzuki’s S-Presso will come early next year.

The Tata Gravitas, the 6/7-seater sibling of the Harrier, will come with a BS6-compliant 170bhp, 2.0L engine with manual and automatic gearboxes. It’s the same motor that does duty to the new Harrier. Similar to the Harrier, it’s likely to come with 2WD (two-wheel-drive) system. Design-wise, the Gravitas looks slightly different and longer than its 5-seater sibling. In order to accommodate the third row of seats, the carmaker has stretched its rear overhang with the same wheelbase. The stepped roof and larger side windows further improve the third row seats’ comfort. The middle row seats are foldable via one-touch flip and fold function. Most of its features will be carried over from the Harrier 5-seater.

The Tata Harrier turbo-petrol, on the other hand, will come with the brand’s new 1.5L petrol, direct-injection engine. It’s essentially the four-cylinder version of the Revotron turbo motor that powers the Nexon subcompact SUV. The new petrol motor will come with multiple drive modes (including a ‘Sport mode) along with paddle shifters.
