Honda Cars India has started accepting pre-bookings for the new BS6-compliant Jazz hatchback. The updated model can be pre-booked at any authorized HCIL dealerships or online via ‘Honda from Home’ platform. One must note that the online booking amount for dealerships and online is at Rs 5,000 and Rs 21,000 respectively. The hatchback’s new model will be offered with BS6-ready 1.2L i-VTEC petrol engine only. The diesel motor has been dropped due to its poor demand. Similar to its BS4 version, the updated gasoline motor is likely to generate a peak power of 90bhp and 110Nm of torque. It can be had either with a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox.
The carmaker has confirmed that the new Jazz will feature a new high gloss black grille with chrome accents and newly-designed front and rear bumpers. The model lineup will come with advanced LED package including new headlamps with DRLs, newly-designed fog lamps and signature rear LED wing light. Interior will also be revised with a few new features including one touch electric sunroof, smart entry, push button start/stop system and cruise control. The 2020 Honda Jazz BS6 will be the only car in its segment to offer steering-wheel mounted dual mode ‘paddle shift’ for CVT variants.
In other news, the Japanese carmaker is planning to launch an all-new hybrid model in India sometime next year. Reports suggest that the company might bring the hybrid iteration of the new-generation Jazz hatchback or City sedan. The carmaker is also considering the Honda HR-V SUV for the Indian market. If launched, it will sit between the WR-V and CR-V in the company’s production lineup. The new SUV might be offered with a new hybrid powertrain.
