Sporty Skoda Kamiq GT Teased; Debut on November 4

Czech automaker, Skoda will unveil the Kamiq GT on November 4 in the Chinese market. This will be the Chinese specific model and will be different from the India-spec model scheduled to be unveiled in 2020. The company has released the first sketches of the car, which shows sporty looking Kamiq GT.

Similar to the Skoda Kodiaq GT, the Kamiq GT will be the brand’s second SUV coupe to be offered exclusively in China. The Kamiq GT design is inspired by the Skoda Vision GT concept. It will be the Skoda’s 5th SUV model for the Chinese market.Also See – Skoda Kamiq – 5 facts

Skoda Kamiq GT Sketch rear

The sketches reveal the sporty and powerful design of the Skoda Kamiq GT, which has distinctive front and a floating roofline. The roof gently slopes down towards the rear and seamlessly merged into the rear spoiler. There are strong lines and curves all over the car, which are specifically designed for the Chinese consumers. The Kamiq GT is designed in collaboration of SAIC Skoda in China and the Skoda Design team in the Czech Republic.

Inside the cabin, the Skoda Kamiq GT shows a blend of rugged SUV looks and sporty dynamics. The new model is based on the standard Kamiq version in China, which is built on Skoda’s older PQ platform. The European-spec model is based on the MQB AO platform that also underpins the Volkswagen T-Cross and the Volkswagen Polo. It is likely to be powered by a 148bhp, 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.

Skoda will showcase the Indianized version of the Kamiq SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. The India-spec model will be based on the MQB AO IN platform, which will be used to develop VW T-Cross, next-gen Skoda Rapid and VW Virtus. In India, the Kamiq will be powered by a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The company could also launch the CNG-petrol hybrid version.
