Soon-to-be-Launched SUVs – Expected Prices, Details

In the next couple of months, we will witness some major new car launches including the new Tata Safari SUV and updated Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback. Here’s a brief on the upcoming new SUVs, which are slated to hit roads in the next two months.

1. New Tata Safari

Tata Motors is ready to bring back its iconic Safari brand with the Gravitas based 6/7-seater SUV in February, 2021. The new Tata Safari will come in 6 trims powered by a 2.0L Kryotec turbocharged diesel engine, sourced from the Harrier. The motor, with manual and automatic gearboxes, delivers a peak power of 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. Besides powertrain, the new Safari shares its underpinning, design elements and features with its 5-seater sibling. The carmaker says that the SUV offers the best-in-segment panoramic sunroof along with lots of comfort goodies and advanced connectivity and safety features. More details here…

2. Mahindra XUV300 Petrol AT

Mahindra & Mahindra will soon roll out the XUV300 petrol automatic model in the country. However, its official launch date is yet to be announced by the carmaker. The new model will feature a 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine with a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The gasoline unit, with a manual gearbox, pushes out a peak power of 110bhp with 200Nm of torque. The 2021 Mahindra XUV300 petrol automatic is likely to be priced around Rs 50,000 – Rs 60,000 premium over its counter manual variants. More details here…

3. Renault Kiger

Renault Kiger was recently unveiled by the French carmaker in the country. Scheduled to launch in March 2021, the model will face challenge from cars like Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Ford EcoSport, Kia Sonet and Hyundai Venue. Based on the CMF-A + platform, the compact SUV will be offered with 1.0L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol (71bhp/96Nm) and 1.0L, turbocharged petrol (98bhp/160Nm) engine options. There will be three gearboxes on offer – 5-speed manual (standard), AMT (NA petrol only) and CVT (turbo petrol only). More details here…

4. Citroen C5 Aircross

The French carmaker is ready to unveil its first offering for India – Citroen C5 Aircross SUV. The model is slated to debut on 1st February and the launch is expected in the following weeks. It will be the brand’s flagship model in India that will be initially sold via Citroen’s 10 “La Maision” dealerships in select cities. Powering the new Citroen SUV will be a 180bhp, 2.0L turbocharged diesel engine with an idle start-stop system. It will come with an 8-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Some of its key features will include an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, dual zone automatic climate control, progressive hydraulic cushion suspension, a grip control system terrain management and more.
