It is no secret that Jeep is developing a 7-seater SUV based on the Compass SUV. It is speculated that the new SUV will be a stretched version of the Compass. However, Jeep confirms that the SUV will have completely different design and will be longer, wider and spacious than the 5-seater sibling.
According to the Brazilian media, the 7-seater Jeep SUV will share the dashboard design with the new Compass SUV. The SUV will have chrome outline around the air conditioning vents, speakers area, door handles frame and other parts. This chrome treatment will be the major difference between the 7-seater Jeep and the Compass facelift. The SUV will also receive a large floating touchscreen infotainment system, which will be compatible with smartphone connectivity.
The front design of the new SUV is expected to be similar to the Compass facelift; however, it will have new front fenders and headlights. The side profile is reportedly to feature the same lines as the Compass. The biggest change will be made to the rear profile, which has larger rear overhang. The SUV will have flatter roof and completely revised rear three quarter to accommodate third row of seats.
The new 7-seater Jeep SUV is likely to be equipped with high-end features such as panoramic sunroof, electronic stability program, cruise control, full LED auto headlamps, updated UConnect infotainment system along with connected car technology and others.
The new Jeep 7-seater SUV will receive a 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine that also powers the Compass. It is capable of producing 173bhp of power and 350Nm of torque. The 7-seater SUV is likely to receive a twin-turbocharged version of this engine, which could offer close to 200bhp of power and over 400Nm of torque. It will be paired to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
The Jeep’s new 7-seater SUV will also receive new line of GSE turbo engines. It is expected to receive a 1.3-litre Turbo Flex engine with power output close to 180bhp. In Europe, the same engine is paired to a dual-clutch transmission. However, the Brazilian spec model will have CVT-type gearbox unit.
