Skoda’s Smallest SUV Based On Vision X Is Coming Soon

The production version of the Skoda’s smallest SUV based on Vision X Concept will make global debut in March 2019.

We informed you earlier that Skoda is working on a compact SUV based on the heavily localised MQB AO In platform for the Indian market. This will be brand’s global SUV, which will first go on sale in foreign soil in 2019. In India, the SUV will arrive in 2020 post BS6 emission norms. The production version of the Skoda’s smallest SUV will make its global debut in March 2019.

This small SUV was first unveiled in the form of Skoda Vision X SUV concept. To be positioned below the Skoda Karoq, the compact SUV will borrow styling cues from the Vision X concept. Based on the versatile MQB AO platform, the new Skoda SUV will share mechanical bits with the Volkswagen T-Cross SUV. As a reminder, the production-ready VW T-Cross will make its public debut on October 25, 2018. Similar to its German sibling, the Skoda SUV will come in two versions. While the European model will have a wheelbase of 2,645mm, the SUV for emerging market will have longer wheelbase. The longer wheelbase version will also make its way to our market. The Skoda Vision X based small SUV will directly rival the Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta and the Renault Captur. The cabin of the small SUV will be shared with the T-Cross, which also source the cabin design from the new-gen Polo (On sale in global markets). The top-spec model will also receive Skoda’s virtual cockpit. Other features will include a freestanding touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, leather seats, soft-touch material on dash & door panels, automatic air conditioning, rear AC vents, multi-functional steering wheel, etc.
