The Skoda Kodiaq GT Coupe might debut at the 2018 Chengdu Motor Show in China.

In October 2017, Skoda introduced its first 7-seater SUV – the Kodiaq – in the Indian market. Available in a single Style variant, this full-size SUV takes on the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. The Czech Republic carmaker had announced that it will bring in a 5-seater version of the Kodiaq – the Skoda Kodiaq GT Coupe. Initially, it will be launched in the Chinese and Russian markets, followed by its India launch.

Reports claim that the Skoda Kodiaq GT Coupe might have its global debut at the 2018 Chengdu Motor Show in China, which is scheduled to happen in the first week of September. Volkswagen’s Shanghai plant will initially serve as production hub for the Skoda Kodiaq GT Coupe. With a more powerful engine, the 5-seater Kodiaq will surely be more expensive than the standard model that costs Rs 34.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Under the hood, the Skoda Kodiaq GT Coupe houses a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine that will tuned two states of tune – 180bhp and 220bhp. This makes it around 32bhp and 72bhp more powerful than the standard Kodiaq. The performance SUV will come with a 7-speed DCT transmission supported by 4WD (four-wheel-drive) system. Exterior design and styling of the Skoda Kodiaq GT Coupe is similar to the regular model. Though, it gets a unique coupe-like roof with a large sunroof. It has a 5-seats layout and measures 63mm shorter than the standard Kodiaq. The SUV measures 4634mm in length, 1883mm in width and 1649mm in height with a wheelbase of 2791mm. Feature-wise, the performance-oriented GT Coupe will be as loaded as the regular model.
