Czech automaker has finally revealed the Skoda Enyaq in prototype form. It is the first Skoda production model based on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB modular electric car platform. The all-electric SUV will be produced at Skoda’s main plant in Mlada Boleslav, which makes it the first MEB-based vehicle in Europe to be produced outside Germany. The new model will be offered with a choice of three battery sizes and five power variants.

The production of the Skoda Envyaq will start at the end of 2020. It will be launched in the international markets in early 2021. The company will first introduce a ‘Founder’s Edition’ to commemorate the founding of the company 125 years ago. The Edition will be equipped with special features and a different look. Skoda Enyaq Prototype Range

The Skoda Enyaq is claimed to offer an electric range of up to 500km in the WLTP cycle and offers fast charging options. The SUV is claimed to offer state-of-the-art connectivity as well as infotainment solutions and Skoda-typical Simply Clever features. In terms of proportions, the electric SUV is 4,648mm long, 1,877mm wide and 1,618mm tall, and it has a wheelbase of 2,765mm. The SUV offers a luggage carrying capacity of 585-litres.

The company will introduce a total of 5 different power variants and three battery sizes. Depending on the version chosen, either the rear wheels or all four wheels are driven. Thanks to highly efficiency batteries, the low rolling resistance tyres and aerodynamic structure, the new Skoda Enyaq can cover ranges of up to 500km in the WLTP cycle.

Enyaq Prototype Features

The entry-level model, the Skoda Enyaq iV 50 features 55kWh lithium ion battery. The rear-mounted electric motor has an output of 109kW and offers a maximum range of up to 340km. The range increases up to 390km in the 132kW Enyaq iV 60 fitted with a 62kWh battery. The rear-wheel-drive Skoda ENYAQ iV 80 has 150kW electric motor and offers 500km of range. Its 82kWh battery is also used by the two versions equipped with a second electric motor and thus all-wheel drive – the 80X and the vRS, which delivers 195kW and 225kW respectively. The top-end model accelerates to 100kmph from zero in just 6.2 seconds before hitting a top speed of 180kmph. The maximum range offer by the AWD variants is up to 460km. Using fast charging option, the battery can be charged up to 80% in 40 minutes.
