Renault India will roll out three new models in coming months including the Triber AMT, Duster turbo petrol and HBC subcompact SUV. The first one to hit the roads will be the Renault Duster turbo petrol that made its public debut at the 2020 Auto Expo. The model will be powered by a new 1.3L turbocharged engine developed by Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance and Daimler.
The Duster turbo petrol will be capable to deliver a peak power of 156bhp against 250Nm of torque. It will be more powerful than the petrol version of the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta, which are good for 113bhp and 138bhp respectively. Transmission options on offer will include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic.
The French carmaker unveiled the Renault Triber AMT at this year’s Auto Expo and confirmed its launch for the second half of 2020. The model is equipped with the same 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol engine that does duty in the manual version. The Triber AMT features a 5-speed automated manual transmission. On the boot, the model carries an ‘Easy R’ badge. No other cosmetic or feature changes have been made to the vehicle.
Renault HBC (codename) subcompact SUV is surely the much-awaited launches from the French carmaker. The vehicle will be designed on Renault-Nissan’s CMF-A+ platform and share some of its design bits with the Triber SUV. Powering the HBC will be a new 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine delivering power around 95bhp.
The same turbo petrol engine will be introduced on the Triber MPV lineup in near future. The new compact SUV from Renault will come with a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox option. Once launched, the Renault HBC will take on the cars like Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 and the upcoming Kia Sonet.
