Renault Duster, Captur Facelift to Get 156bhp, 1.3L Petrol Engine

Renault Duster Turbo Petrol Power

French automaker, Renault had showcased the BS6 compliant Duster petrol at the 2020 Auto Expo. The updated model will be launched in the Indian market in April 2020. Besides Duster, Renault is also readying the facelift version of the Captur SUV. In fact, the Captur facelift has recently been unveiled in Russia.

The Renault Captur facelift will also share the engine mechanism with the Duster turbo. Both SUVs will be powered by a new 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine that is capable of producing 156bhp of power and a peak torque of 250Nm. This new engine will come as a replacement for the existing 1.5L naturally-aspirated petrol engine.

Renault Captur Facelift

The new 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine is developed by Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance in partnership with Diamler. Initially, the Captur facelift will be offered with the BSVI compliant 1.5-litre petrol engine that produces 104bhp of power and 142Nm of torque. For transmission duties, the Duster and Captur with turbo engine will receive a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard and a CVT unit as optional.

The new 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine will make the Duster and the Renault Captur facelift the most powerful SUVs in its category. The Kia Seltos and the new Hyundai Creta are packed with a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is capable of producing 138bhp and 242Nm of torque. The new Duster will be around 18bhp more powerful than its direct rivals. The two Renault SUVs won’t be offered with diesel engine option, and the current 1.5L K9K unit will be discontinued by the end of March 2020.

Talking about the Renault Captur facelift, the crossover will receive subtle design changes in the form of new dual-tone alloy wheels, and slight revised grille and bumper. Inside the cabin, the SUV will get colour-coded accents on the adjustable headrests, front footwell and dashboard.
