Ahead of new Hyundai Verna’s launch on August 22, 2017, more details have surfaced on the inter-web. The sedan will take a generation leap and will get radical design updates along with a raft of new features. On the outside, it will sport a new cascade chrome grille flanked by new projector headlamps with LED daytime running lights and positioning lamps. The front bumper will get projector fog lamps with cornering lamps and chrome surrounds. Other bits like 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, chrome beltline, sharkfin antenna and chrome garnish on boot lid will complete the exterior look. The tyre & wheel options include 15-inch steel wheels wrapped around 185/65 R15 tyres in E & EX variants. While the EX AT variant will come with 15-inch alloy wheels and the 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels shod with 195/55 R16 rubber will be offered with the top-two trims. With changed dimensions, the new Verna now measures 4,440mm long, 1,729mm wide and 1,475mm tall. Sitting on the 2,600mm long wheelbase, the new Verna will offer a spacious cabin with plethora of in-cabin features. Prominent features like ventilated front seats, cruise control, sliding front armrest and rear centre arm rest, rear curtain, rear-air-conditioning vents, sunroof and USB chargers at front and rear will be available on the top-spec SX(O) trim. A 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Mirror Link, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be exclusively available on the SX and SX(O) variants. The infotainment system can also be operated through voice commands using the iblue smart phone app. In addition, the top-spec SX(O) grade will also receive an Auto Link smartphone app that enables users to keep a track of vehicle’s driving pattern, get road side assistance, manage parking, book a service request etc. Unlike the SX & SX(O) variants, the EX trim will get the 5.0- inch unit with Arkamys system.

In terms of safety, the sedan will receive vital features such as standard ABS with EBD and dual front airbags. The SX(O) trim will additionally get side and curtain airbags. Among other prominent features, the new Verna will come with impact sensing auto door unlock, front seat pretensioners, headlamps escort function, anti-pinch driver window with one touch automatic roll don, ISOFIX child seat anchors and rear-view camera with parking sensors. It will lack all disc brakes and will instead get disc units at front and drum brakes at rear. The suspension mechanism will comprise of McPherson struts and coil springs at front and couple torsion beam axle at rear.
Under the hood, the new Verna will get a choice between two engines-a 1.6-litre petrol and 1.6-litre oil burner. The 1.6-litre 4-cylinder petrol unit will make 121bhp at 6,400rpm against 151Nm at 4,850rpm. Diesel unit on the other hand will make 126bhp at 4,000rpm along with 260Nm between 1500 to 3000rpm. Both the engines will get an option between a 6-speed manual and 6-speed auto box.
