We have reported earlier that Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch two new mid-size utility vehicles (UVs) in the country. While the new compact SUV will be put against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, the new C-MPV will sit between the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Innova Crysta. Both models will be retailed via the brand’s premium Nexa dealership. Talking about the new Maruti compact SUV, the model will be based on the Toyota Raize’s DNGA platform.

One must note that there is no official word on the upcoming compact SUV. Though, the reports suggest that the new Maruti compact SUV will arrive in the first half of 2022. A latest digital rendering further gives us an idea about its possible design and styling. The large trapezoidal grille with mesh inserts, LED headlamps and LED DRLs seem to be carried over from the Toyota Raize compact SUV. The headlamp clusters are connected via black cladding instead of the chrome bar.

Features such as fog lamps with circular housing, a slightly flat bonnet, pronounced wheel arches with black cladding, alloy wheels, chromed door handles and black treatment on the ORVMs, side pillars and roof further enhance its sporty looks. As of now, details of the new Maruti compact SUV are scanty. Though, it’s reported to come with both petrol and diesel engines. While the petrol model might be offered with a 1.2L turbo motor or a 1.5L K15B unit, the diesel version are likely to be packed with BS6 1.5L engine.

Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming 7-seater C-MPV will underpin Toyota’s B560 platform. Its engine setup might be similar to the new Maruti compact SUV. The Indo-Japanese carmaker is also working on premium version of the WagonR hatchback that’s reported to be named Maruti Suzuki XL5. It will be offered in exclusive Nexa Blue shade via Nexa dealership network.
