In India, the new Jeep Wrangler SUV is likely to go on sale in the second half of this year.

Fresh spy pictures indicate that the American SUV maker has begun testing the new Jeep Wrangler SUV in India. Wearing heavy camouflage, the SUV was spotted driving in Goa. First previewed at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, the fourth-generation Wrangler is likely to go on sale in the second half of this year. Jeep’s Toledo Assembly Complex in Ohio, USA will continue to be the production hub of the SUV, and it will be brought here as a CBU (Completely Built Unit). 2018 Jeep Wrangler spied

Underpinning the same body-on-frame, the Wrangler will carry a more evolved design. Some of its design highlights will include larger full LED headlamps with LED daytime running lights positioned on the fenders, revised front grille, pronounced wheel arches with 18-inch tyres, LED fog lamps and LED turn indicators.

While the keystone-shaped grille and a more rakish windshield improve will aerodynamics of the SUV, the lowered beltline with larger windows will offer better visibility. It seems that the wheelbase and front and rear overhangs have grown in size. This will also make it more spacious for the front and rear occupants. 2018 Jeep Wrangler Picture Gallery

Interior of the new Wrangler will surely be more upmarket than the current model. Major improvement will be made on the quality front. Though, it will retain the original cabin design and layout. The list of feature will include an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch TFT LED driver information display, longer armrests, 115-volt AC auxiliary power outlet, 12-volt accessory outlets, four USB ports, push-button starter with a weather-proof surround, etc. Read: 2018 Jeep Cherokee Launch & Other Details

Globally, the SUV will get two new 4-cylinder engines – a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre turbo diesel. Engine setup of the India-spec model is likely to be changed. Transmission on offer will include a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic unit. Aiming to achieve better mileage, the carmaker will equip the SUV with start-stop technology.
